Your Pivotal Moments candle was crafted to deliver a beautiful, clean burn from the first light to the last.

Step One

The First Burn

The most important burn is the first one. Allow your candle to burn until the entire surface has melted to a full, even wax pool—typically 2 to 3 hours for the 12 oz jar. This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.

Pro Tip: Set aside time for your first burn. Extinguishing too early creates a “memory ring” that limits how evenly the candle burns in the future.

Step Two

Trim Your Wick

Before every lighting, trim your wick to 1/4 inch using a wick trimmer. This reduces soot, prevents the flame from becoming too large, and extends your candle’s life. Our Pivotal Moments Candle Care Kit includes a precision wick trimmer designed for exactly this purpose.

Step Three

Clean Your Vessel

Between burns, gently wipe the inside of your candle vessel with a paper napkin or soft towel to remove any residual wax or oil buildup. This simple step reduces soot, keeps the glass looking pristine, and ensures a cleaner, more even flame each time you light your candle.

Pro Tip: A quick wipe while the wax is still slightly warm (but fully solidified) makes cleanup effortless.

Step Four

Burn Time

For optimal performance, burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This prevents overheating and ensures a consistent fragrance throw throughout the life of the candle.

Approximate Burn Times: 12 oz jar — 60 hours | 8 oz gold tin — 40 hours | 2 oz travel tin — 15 hours

Step Five

Extinguish Safely

Use a candle snuffer to extinguish your flame rather than blowing it out. This prevents hot wax from splattering and eliminates the smoke that comes from a blown-out wick. Our candle care kit includes a snuffer for this purpose.

Step Six

Storage

Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use the bamboo lid (jars) or fitted tin lid (tins) to keep dust and debris out between burns. The bamboo lid also doubles as a beautiful coaster for your candle while it’s burning.

Room Sprays

Spray Tips

Shake gently before each use. Hold 8–10 inches from fabric and spray in a sweeping motion. Safe for use on linens, pillows, curtains, upholstery, and in the air. Our formula is non-staining and non-toxic—safe around children and pets.
